WEC team Strakka Racing unveils patriotic new livery

Silverstone-based FIA World Endurance Championship team Strakka Racing will contest the second round of the season at Spa-Francorchamps next month with a striking new livery – patriotically featuring the Union Flag on the ‘shark fin’ section at the rear of the squad’s HPD ARX-03a car.

Having begun the 2012 campaign at Sebring, Florida, back in March with a white and blue colour scheme, the team has now adopted a metallic ‘Ultra Silver Mini Flake’ livery with the addition of the famous red, white and blue to the rear section of the 3.4-litre, V8-engined P1 prototype.

Michelin columnist Danny Watts and team-mates Jonny Kane and Nick Leventis gave the car its first run sporting the all-new Strakka Racing colours during a two-day Michelin tyre test at Motorland Aragon on Spain this week. The team is now preparing for the ‘6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps’ which is due to take place at the world-renowned Belgian track on Saturday, 5 May.

Speaking on the new colour scheme, team principal and technical director Piers Phillips said: “We wanted our race car to really stand out from the crowd, have a very distinctive and instantly recognisable colour scheme and highlight that we’re extremely proud to be a British team racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The car looked great at Sebring but now, after some innovative design work, the HPD ARX-03a looks even better. We hope fans like it and come out to support us, especially at our next two races at Spa-Francorchamps and at the Le Mans 24 Hours.
